Explaining Momentitiousness to Murakami...as if he didn't already know

“Are you saying time isn’t linear?”

“I’m saying that, not only is time not linear, time is nothing more than a construction by human beings to make narrative easier to understand. We created time to give order to our universe.”

“Why can’t people leave the past in the past?”

“The past and the future are always with us in the present. Hope and memory exist with us right now in each person’s own conception of presence. That’s why an expectation of finding a single truth is silly.  This is exactly what Momentitiousness is about.”
